The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) is hosting its 2020 National Housing and Infrastructure Forum and Tradeshow from March 10-12, 2020, on the traditional meeting place and shared territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat (Huron), at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto, Ontario,.
The forum is an opportunity for delegates to provide input on the implementation of the First Nations National Housing and related Infrastructure Strategy which is guided solely by the aim of ensuring that all First Nations members living in or away from their First Nations will have access to housing that suits their needs. Your input and recommendations will support the transfer of authority over housing and related infrastructure to First Nations care, control and management. There will be added emphasis on Infrastructure as it relates to Operations and Maintenance and Asset Management. A revised draft O&M Policy will be presented for discussion and input. Information on Asset Management Planning activity by First Nations, service providers and industry will be showcased in presentations and Exhibitors.
Forum Overview
The forum will host plenary sessions and interactive workshops on the long-term approach for First Nations Housing and related Infrastructure for First Nations and for First Nations members who live in urban, rural, and northern areas. We will also focus on the operations and maintenance (O&M) with an emphasis on adopting an Asset Management Planning (AMP) approach. The forum will provide space for First Nations to share successes in instituting AMP as a new way of tracking O&M.
Who should Attend?
- Chiefs or their representative, Housing and Public Works Managers, Indigenous Housing Services;
- Providers and individuals who are working in the field of housing management, operations and maintenance, and infrastructure management;
- First Nations organizations or technicians interested in improving how housing and infrastructure is managed and delivered; and,
- Consultants, industry, other non-government entities involved in First Nations housing and infrastructure.
All Forum activities will be taking place at the Fairmont Royal York, 100 Front Street West, Toronto, Ontario.
