National Chief Perry Bellegarde Statement on COVID-19

As we navigate our response to the COVID-19 pandemic, I commend all First Nations, health professionals and frontline workers for their dedication to keeping our people safe. I look forward to continued collaborative efforts and action by federal and provincial governments to ensure First Nations are equipped to respond to the unique health needs of their people and communities, including access to vaccines and sustained investments to help close the gaps that we fear will widen as a result of the pandemic. These have been difficult times and we must remember to give thanks to the Creator and for positive and meaningful partnerships focused on safety for our peoples.
