AFN to Attend Meeting with Premiers in Advance of Council of the Federation in Victoria, BC

(Ottawa, ON): Assembly of First Nations (AFN) BC Regional Chief Terry Teegee will join other Indigenous leaders in a meeting with provincial and territorial premiers in advance of the Council of the Federation meeting taking place in Victoria next week.

Regional Chief Teegee will represent the AFN at the meeting of National Indigenous leaders and premiers focused on child and family services and the environment.  He plans to speak to the importance of support by provinces and territories for First Nations self-determination in the areas of child and family services, the environment and other priorities.

Regional Chief Teegee will participate in a media availability with Council of the Federation Chair BC Premier John Horgan and other Indigenous leaders following the meeting: Monday July 11, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. PDT at Songhees Wellness Centre, Admirals Road Victoria, BC V9A 2P6.

The meeting with National Indigenous leaders will be followed by two days of meetings with the Premiers. The 2022 COF will focus on health. The 2023 Council of the Federation will be hosted by the province of Manitoba.
