The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) is honoured to host discussions on the path to building fully accessible First Nations governments. These virtual dialogues invite First Nations persons of all Abilities/ disabilities, First Nations regions, leadership, Knowledge Keepers, administrators, delivery, and service providers, and more. This is an opportunity to discuss options for the development ofdistinct First Nations accessibility legislation, and to learn more about the Accessible Canada Act and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.  

The AFN will be hosting two different sessions to accommodate different time zones. Session #1 is taking place on February 3, 2022, from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm ET and Session #2 is taking place on February 10, 2022, from 11:00 pm to 4:00 pm ET.

Session Overview

The session will bring together First Nations persons of all Abilities, and First Nations persons with disabilities, leadership, regions, administrators, delivery and service providers and others to discuss options for distinct First Nations accessibility legislation.  This will also be an opportunity to learn more about the Accessible Canada Act and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
