AFN National Chief Expresses Condolences on the Loss of Royce Wilson
Assembly of First Nations National Chief Shawn A-in-chut Atleo today expressed his condolences and sympathy to the family and friends of Royce Wilson, a citizen of Rolling River First Nation in Manitoba.
“On behalf of the Assembly of First Nations and First Nations across the land, I want to offer my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Royce Wilson. Royce is known to many First Nations people for his lifelong work to advance our issues and build a better future for First Nations. His many roles and responsibilities include serving as a Councillor for Rolling River First Nation, working as an advisor to the West Region Tribal Council and serving as Manitoba Vice Chief for the Assembly of First Nations.
Royce has many friends at the Assembly of First Nations, who remember him for the joy and laughter he brought to every occasion, balanced by his experience, insight and unwavering dedication to our people. Royce will be greatly missed. Today, our thoughts and prayers go to Royce’s wife Gina, their family and all those who had the great privilege to know Royce.”
A traditional wake will be held on Friday, January 21 at Southquill Hall on Rolling River First Nation. A traditional funeral will take place on Saturday, January 22nd at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at the Presbyterian-South cemetery in Rolling River. Traditional singers will be present at the wake and funeral.
