AFN Executive Committee Stands United, Focused on Advancing Progress for First Nations at AFN AGA

Published: Jul 05, 2022Press Release

(VANCOUVER, B.C.) – Assembly of First Nations (AFN) Executive Committee members stood united today on the territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh peoples in Vancouver, B.C. to underscore the importance of focusing on First Nations priorities and critical issues affecting First Nations communities across this land ahead of a three-day Annual General Assembly.

The members of the committee urge that issues related to the human resource complaints involving the AFN National Chief do not overshadow the real and ongoing work that is required on behalf of First Nations people.

The committee further calls on the National Chief to immediately cease any actions and statements that amount to serious breaches of the confidentiality and privacy interests of AFN employees, service providers and others, including making broad allegations of misconduct. The Executive Committee believes these actions are damaging, unlawful and inappropriate.

The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) is a national advocacy organization that works to advance the collective aspirations of First Nations individuals and communities across Canada on matters of national or international nature and concern. Follow AFN on Twitter @AFN_Updates.
