(Ottawa, ON) – Assembly of First Nations (AFN) National Chief Perry Bellegarde today offered his congratulations to AFN Manitoba Regional Chief Kevin Hart, who was elected yesterday at the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs meeting to represent the Manitoba region on the AFN National Executive.
“I congratulate Regional Chief Hart on his election and look forward to working with him as part of our team on the national AFN executive,” said AFN National Chief Perry Bellegarde. “I know he will be a strong voice for First Nations in Manitoba a strong advocate for First Nations rights and for First Nations women, children and all our citizens. I will also support his efforts to advance the dialogue around First Nations rights and Treaties in Manitoba and at the national level, and to advance First Nation priorities in his region and across the country.”
Kevin Hart of the Nischawayasihk Cree Nation was elected AFN Manitoba Regional Chief yesterday at the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs 27th Annual General Assembly in Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Manitoba. He will be serving his first term as Regional Chief of Manitoba and was currently working at Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs.
“I want to thank former Regional Chief Bill Traverse for his years of work at the local, regional and national levels, and for his dedicated work at AFN with a special focus on housing and infrastructure,” said National Chief Bellegarde. “I am honoured to have worked with Bill on the AFN executive. Clear is his unwavering commitment to our ceremonies and languages, our rights and the well-being of our peoples. For this, I hold him up and wish him well.”
